Liver Detox Tea – How To Cleanse Your Liver
=> Drink Liver Detox Tea to give your liver a healthy boost!
Suzanne Somers – American actress, author, singer, businesswoman and health spokesperson said it best…
Every chemical that makes it into your bloodstream – be it through your lungs, stomach, or skin – meets up with your liver at some point. Since your liver is your body’s best defense when it comes to filtering out all those toxins, you need to treat it well.
A few of the signs that your liver is not functioning at its best include:
=> Uncomfortable abdominal bloating
=> Acid reflux/heartburn
=> Pain or discomfort around the liver area
=> Unexplained weight gain and not able to lose weight even with a calorie controlled diet
=> Liver Spots – dark spots on the skin.
=> Fatty foods are difficult to digest.
=> Gallbladder removed.

As Suzanne Somers said – every chemical that makes it into your bloodstream – be it through your lungs, stomach, or skin – meets up with your liver at some point. So doing everything you can to help your liver cope and perform at its best should be a priority.
To do so, I recommend you drink Natural Liver Detox Tea (1-2 cups daily is good). In addition drink a minimum of 2 litres of water daily and incorporate some of the following 11 foods in your daily diet.
Avocados are a fruit that is known to naturally protect and repair your liver and to lower cholesterol levels when eaten regularly. Avocados are a source of monounsaturated fats and are rich in vitamins, minerals, fibre, phytosterols and polyphenols. This green edible jewel is a must with your next meal, so add it to your shopping basket.
In addition to being great for the liver to protect you from alcohol, asparagus is a great vegetable to eat raw when you’re feeling bloated. Asparagus is a natural diuretic and contains plenty of minerals and nutrients.
Carrots are another food rich in glutathione, an antioxidant that helps detoxify the liver. In addition to the detox properties, carrots contain good amounts of vitamin C, B6 and potassium. They also loaded with vitamin A and K. It’s best to eat these raw. Try some carrot sticks with a side of guacamole or hummus as a healthy snack.
When we say Dandelion you may think of it as a pesticide or a weed you find in your garden. No, not that kind but a tea made of Dandelion Leaves.
Dandelion tea has been shown to rid the liver of toxins. It is important to look after our liver as it is responsible for breaking down fats, producing amino acids and eliminates waste and toxins.
If Dandelion leave tea is not available you can drink Dandelion root tea, but it has a fairly bitter taste. You can add some lemon juice or a bit of honey to make it more pleasant to drink.
Most of us will have a bulb of garlic in you your kitchen cupboard right now, right? If you don’t, well- you should. Garlic is loaded with sulphur, a mineral that helps to get rid toxins within the body. Garlic is also known to reduce cholesterol, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, and bacteria-related illnesses.
It would be best to eat garlic raw, as heat destroys many of the beneficial properties of garlic. If you can’t bear the thought of eating raw garlic, you can find it in capsule form in most health food stores or online.
Grapefruit contains about 70 milligrams of liver cleansing antioxidants (glutathione). In addition, grapefruits also lower cholesterol. One whole grapefruit is about 76 calories, so enjoy with a cup of cottage cheese, plain yogurt sprinkled or on its own. Great to start the day with for breakfast.
I occasionally make my own ‘cleansing-drink’ and drink 30 minutes or so before a meal. Add to the following to a juicer; 3 grapefruits, 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar (has liver cleansing properties), 200ml water and 1 tsp. of honey. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think.
7. Liquorice Root
Liquorice, you may love it or hate it but it has long been used in Chinese medicine to treat liver disease. The root is full of antioxidants and protects the liver from harmful effects of toxic materials. Did you know it induces the production of interferon, which protects the liver from bacteria.
8. Lemon and Lime
I mentioned my Liver Detox Tea (also includes lemon) and water before, but warm water with lemon or lime can also be a simple method of improving the health of your liver. High in vitamin C and potassium, lemons can help regulate biological functions.
9. Spinach – Raw
Yes you know the one, Popeye’s favourite – Spinach. It contains an amazing 166 milligrams of glutathione (antioxidant) per serving when eaten raw. Cook it, and it all goes away. Spinach also contains twice as much energy-boosting iron as other leafy greens.
Give a spinach- or mixed spinach salad a try today with a little olive oil and sea salt drizzled on top, delicious and nutritious!
Tomatoes, eaten raw, do a great job detoxifying the liver. Full of antioxidants as it contains a whopping 169 milligrams of glutathione per serving. Tomatoes also protect against certain cancers (breast, skin and lung cancer).
Try to eat tomatoes when they’re fresh, but cooked or grilled is fine too. Try with a little balsamic vinegar and sea salt or make a tomato, mozzarella and basil salad this lunch time.
Besides making a tasty snack, walnuts provide a healthy combination of liver-protective substances. Individuals with liver disease are often advised to include walnuts in their diet. The walnut is a food with a low level of toxicit so it eases the stress of detoxification on the liver. Walnuts are also a good source of glutathione and a great source of omega-3 fatty acids. Why not sprinkle a few on your next spinach salad or carry a few in your handbag when feeling hungry?
The liver is an important organ in our body and plays a key role in carrying out various body functions. It is essential to look after it, and thankfully there’s a lot we can do ourselves.
